Small Antique Crib Quilts

A very sweet 32.5 inch x 36 inch crib quilt found in Maine this year.  The blocks are about 4.75 inches and the fabulous border is 2 inches.  I am thinking c. 1870, what do you think?

  1. Great colors and fabrics. Is that aqua or is the photo making it look different?

    1. Yes it is aqua. It is in amazing shape for it's age.

  2. I am not sure of the year, but I recognize some of the fabrics as current reproductions in my stash! How fun...what a wonderful treasure!

  3. It is amazing that the crib quilt may be as much as one hundred and forty years old considering that it seems to be in pretty good condition. The border is great, it seems like the dimension would be perfect for a crib as well. The color is really interesting.

  4. Wow, I am impressed. This is a really nice piece, unique and very detailed. It must have been really hard to make, with all these small and complicated patterns and the combination of colors. I can’t quite figure the year though, but I love it. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Interesting mix of colors, and love the border, is that Saw Tooth... I like the colors well enough to replicate the mix. The maker had an eye for adding in some interesting blue, pink on the light side that just adds a great deal of charm. The setting is interesting, I would not be brave enough to wing it the way she did! I don't think I have any aqua in my reproduction Civil War, not a one! The browns look Civil War era, the aqua is confusing....love it!
